OTLA staff will be on hand to welcome you at Kansai International Airport (KIX). We will then take you directly to the school, so you won’t get lost.

Resident registration is required to live in Japan. You will complete the resident registration process together with an OTLA staff member.

To prepare for the possibility of falling ill or getting injured and needing to visit a hospital while studying in Japan, you should enroll in National Health Insurance. Enrolling in this insurance will help reduce your medical expenses. Our school will assist you with the enrollment procedures at the ward office.

In Japan, international students can open accounts at post offices and banks. When you open an account, you will also receive a debit card. The debit card will be mailed to your home approximately two weeks after you complete the application process.

If you need a cell phone, such as a smartphone, OTLA staff will assist you with the sign-up process.

By obtaining a “Permission to Engage in Activities Outside the Scope of Your Status of Residence” from the Immigration Bureau, you can work part-time for up to 28 hours per week (up to 8 hours per day during long school breaks).

To help international students maintain their health, we conduct annual health checkups by a doctor.

OTLA staff will assist you in obtaining the Certificate of Eligibility required for your visa renewal application.
